Curry Perfume

I am travelling in a crowded train, on my way to work. An Indian dude boards right after me and suddenly wait..what is this I smell? Is that yummy dal? Wait, I also smell hot methi parathas!! With every jerk of the train, some new wonderful flavor seems to waft to my nostrils, secretly teasing me, reminding me of my empty, now growling stomach. Wow, what's this...is someone cooking in the train?nah it must be that some nice Indian uncle got too hungry, coudnt wait until he got to work so he opened his lunch right in the train. That's it, thats what the smell is, i'm sure. But why does the smell seem to come particularly from an Indian dude right behind me?

Uh oh, I don't think it's any food, it's the new perfume on the rack, "aqua de CURRY"!!

An Indian in the US...wakes up everyday, gets ready for work ..wears formal clothes n shoes and squirts liberal amount of curry flavored perfume!!We Indians make awesome curries, but is there any reason to smell like that as well?

Droid Does.

Well, there was a lot of hoopla about the new Droid phone from Google/Motorola/Verizon partnership. And although I am a prejudiced, proud owner of an iPhone 3gS, I have to say, Apple has met its match at last. I hope at least now apple comes out with multi-tasking on the iPhone..seriously, of all the feature, this one is long overdue. The Pre and the droid do it so well!
Looking forward to Apple's answer to Droid. I think, as a consumer a good amount of competition is always good for us!

So. Being a huge Harry potter and JKR fan, I went to see the new Half Blood Prince movie all excited the very first day. Although many parts of the movie were really cool ( loved the part where Ron takes the love portion and the casting of Lavender is brilliant!), I was xxtremely dissapointed with the end. I mean, they portrayed Harry as a bumbling teenager without much courage, skunking the shadows while his mentor life's at risk!! But anyone who has read even some of the hp books would know that courage is one of his biggest strengths and he is always willing to put his life at risk, even to the point of being impetous and that unless he is forced by magic - like the body-binding spell that Dumbledore casts on harry after he makes him wear his invisibity cloak in the book, he would never just stand there looking stupid. I really don't understand how JKR allowed this to pass!! And lets not even get started on not showing Dumbledore's moving funeral or Hawkes soul-tearing cries. Sigh. They totally tore up Dumbledore's and Harry very basic characters that has been so beautifully portrayed by JRK and loved by millions. What a waste of a movie. This was a total letdown.

Not that I feel a lot better after this gripe but it would be really nice if there was some way to get some magic in this muggle world to set this right.
Wedding Diary - End
So, unfortunately, I didn't get time to blog all the adventures I had during my wedding but needless to say, all's well that ended well. Now my husband and I are back in the country and our life's adventure has just begun!!

Wedding Diary - Day #1
Arrived in India after a long flight journey and even longer wait in Singapore at around 10am. No time for hi, hellos and jetlag? kuppai la podu..no room for all that!...plunged right into this whirwind shopping spree. Arrived home at 12pm, just had enough time to deposit the bags, grab something quick to eat and we were off to make meself a bride!
Wedding Diary
Yes..that's right..am getting hitched. The big day has been set for April 30th, 2009.
The invitations has been printed, the chataram fixed. No this is not a shotgun wedding, although it does seem that way. When Baski and I spoke to our parents, little did we realize how things would steamroll so quickly.

Jai Ho A R Rehman!

A little late to be talking about this , but oh well..I was busy! So so glad that Rehman won the oscar for slumdog, his humility and talent speaks for himself. But having said that, I still feel Slumdog was not Rehman's best album..it's really good..but some of his other indian works like Roja, Taal, Dil Se...pure genius. Anyway, I guess it is more about exposure and marketing and making the right people see it at the right time. Still, this definitely puts Rehman in a whole different league, opens a lot of new and unexplored doors and I can't wait to hear and be blown away by his creativity. I think we are all so fortunate to be born at the same period as this genius and listen to his music.

PS: Rumor has it that Danny Bolye (the director of slumdog) has been offered to direct the next bond film and Rehman might be the music director! Just imagine Rehman re-tuning James Bond’s signature music. Wow..can't wait!
Look at life from both sides now...
Heard Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now and I'm totally hooked!! What a beautiful song...

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
Ive looked at life that way

Ive looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
Its lifes illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all
Ive looked at life from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
Its lifes illusions I recall
I really dont know life at all

Hey you..that's right, you. my inner artist. wake up!

So, yeah, I tried my hand at painting a pot sometime back..it actually turned out not so bad. I didn't think I have even a 0.1% of my mom's creativity, but I guess a little bit has trickled in :D.
